Whether it's your first time on the island or you are a repeat visitor, in today's article we are going to share with you some suggestions for your vacations in Ibiza. There are so many things to see and do on the island that we have tried to summarize the essentials.

We tell you everything you should not miss below:

Table of contents

What should you see when you come to Ibiza?

el columpio de cala xarraca es una de las cosas que definitivamente tienes que ver en ibiza

You know the picture above, don't you? Few people who have decided to visit Ibiza these last two years have not posted in their respective timelines a photo in that place. This is what has been known in the press as "the most Instagrammable swing in Ibiza".

Beyond this modern conception of such a beautiful place, Cala Xarraca, in the small town of San Juan (north of Ibiza), is well worth a visit. What's more, the town itself is worth a visit on its own, it's idyllic!

Other places not to be missed to get to know Ibiza like a real Ibicenco are:

  • The Saturday second-hand market at the Sant Jordi racecourse: one of the most eclectic, peculiar and cosmopolitan on the island - you never know what you're going to find!
  • The village of Santa Inés: preferably discovered on foot on an organized route, such as those held during the almond blossom season.
  • The square of Santa Gertrudis: with its typical "bocata" bars and the al fresco conversations in the beautiful church square.
  • La Torre d'en Rovira: in the western part of the island (area of the beaches of Cala Conta and Cala Bassa), to reach which you will have to make a beautiful walk.
    Where can you go?

Where can you go during your vacations in Ibiza?

donde ir en ibiza: el paseo de santa eularia des riu

The promenade of Santa Eulària des Riu is ideal if you are traveling with your family. In the same place you can visit one of the quietest towns on the island, take a dip in the beach or choose from the wide variety of restaurants in the area.

And if you are not traveling with your family... ... that's fine too! Because a vacation in Ibiza without experiencing the contrast between quiet villages like this one and others with a livelier nightlife like San Antonio cannot be considered complete...

In addition to the walk you can see in the photo, from Blue Ocean Ibiza we also suggest you to go to:

  • The port of Ibiza: with a varied leisure offer, glamorous bars and the epicenter of the Ibiza jet-set.
  • The promenade of San Antonio: famous for its sunsets, popularized by places like Café del Mar or Café Mambo, a real spectacle!
  • The village of Es Cubells: tiny, very quiet and with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea.
  • The viewpoint of Sa Talaia: the highest point (475 meters) of the island is located in the municipality of San Jose and gives you a panoramic view of Ibiza simply breathtaking.

What are the most famous monuments in Ibiza?

andrew rogers ha creado uno de los monumentos de ibiza más famosos

Yes, we know... Dalt Vila (the walled complex of the island's capital) is in itself a monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, without going any further. But if you are not familiar with the columns in the picture above you have to visit this enclave in Ibiza: Cala Llentia.

There you will see this imposing monument, consisting of 13 basalt columns that exceed 20 meters in height. It is the work of Andrew Rodgers, his patron was Guy Laliberté (the founder of Cirque du Soleil) and during sunset the central column reflects the sun's rays giving you a unique stamp.

But the artistic heritage of Ibiza does not end there. Take note of these other monuments:

  • Sa Punta des Molí: in the promenade of San Antonio that we have spoken before is also this interpretation center with centuries-old buildings. A must visit.
  • El Huevo de Colón: probably the most curious monument of Ibiza, also in San Antonio (right at the main traffic circle). It is worth seeing it live.
  • Santa Eulària Bridge: the only bridge over the only river on the island. It dates back to the 18th century and nowadays has its own interpretation center. Very curious!
  • Can Ventosa: in the capital, an old modernist textile factory converted into a theater and concert hall. A must if you have the culture gene.

What excursions can you do in Ibiza?

existen muchos lugares y zonas boscosas para realizar excursiones en ibiza

The practice of hiking in Ibiza is becoming more and more widespread among both residents and tourists. There is a good reason for this: the environments we enjoy on the island are simply breathtaking.

In addition to the benefits of active tourism activities, a walking tour will allow you to get to know Ibiza, its fauna, its flora, its history, ... from a very different perspective. And if you are a photography enthusiast, that's all there is to it...

You can hire a personalized excursion with a guide, or go into one of these routes yourself:

  • Es Portitxol: in the north of the island, this cliffy area (somewhat complex for older people and small children) is probably the most impressive of the island for hiking.
  • Puig de Ses Torretes: in the area of Cala Llonga, a circular route with cliffs, beaches and a peak ("puig") with a very good panoramic view of the east of Ibiza.
  • Las Puertas del Cielo: from the village we have recommended before, Santa Inés, you have at your fingertips one of the most beautiful walks in Ibiza.
  • Cova des Ví: the "wine cave", in San Antonio, is the end of this route, which is part of the historical pictorial ensembles of Ibiza.

What are the most beautiful natural sites in Ibiza?naturaleza en ibiza: ses margalides es uno de los parajes más impresionantes de la isla

Approaching this impressive place with a sailboat like our Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37 "Galatea" is an experience you will never forget.

The islet of Sa Foradada (in the image above) is one of the most beautiful natural sites of Ibiza, whether you discover it by sea or if you observe it from the coast (from Las Puertas del Cielo that we have mentioned in the previous section).

We highlight this place because it is a real delight for diving lovers. Its bottom is very rich in marine fauna and there you can see many of the best known species of fish in Ibiza (and others that are not so well known).

However, we can not forget either:

  • The Natural Park of Ses Salines: which has an interpretation center, a route for walking routes and a passing area for flamingos.
  • Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell Nature Reserve: the most famous islets of Ibiza are also a nature reserve.
  • Tagomago Nature Reserve: in the north of the island (municipality of Santa Eulària), recently created.
  • As you can see, there are many things to see and do during your vacations in Ibiza. If you have not yet finished organizing your travel plan, from Blue Ocean Ibiza we also recommend that you reserve a couple of days for a weekend boat trip.

The icing on the cake, perfect for getting to know Ibiza from another perspective!
