How to move around Ibiza?
Blue Ocean Ibiza

If you are thinking of visiting the island of Ibiza, here you can find out how to get around the island in the best ways. Don't miss it!

Although Ibiza is a relatively small island (barely more than 40 kilometers from end to end), anyone who wants to enjoy it to the fullest has to be clear about how to get around Ibiza. There are too many places worth visiting!

The most practical way to do it is, for better or worse, the car. Getting around Ibiza with this means of transport is easy and will save you time, but you have to keep in mind that in the summer season the crowds that occur are considerable.

So, of course, we are also going to explain the ways to get around Ibiza without a car and still come back with a suitcase full of unforgettable memories. Let's get to it!

How to move around Ibiza by car?

As we have already advanced in the introduction of this article, the best practical way to move around Ibiza is by car. This way you can reach every corner of the island without depending on schedules, a car will give you a lot of freedom!

However, during the strongest months of the summer (especially in July and August), Ibiza can be saturated between the cars of the residents themselves, those rented by tourists or those of travelers arriving to the island by ferry.

So if you are planning to come on vacation during those dates, we recommend you to consider the alternatives that we offer in this article. Especially if you are one of those who get on your nerves with traffic jams or overcrowding.

From Blue Ocean Ibiza we recommend to all our customers that if they decide to move around Ibiza by rental car, they do so by hiring a comprehensive insurance. You never know what can happen, and better to be safe than sorry!

Also keep in mind that most urban centers (although they may have parking) have paid parking lots. If your travel budget is tight, getting around by car can be an extra expense if you do not plan well.

How to move around Ibiza without a car?

Whether because you do not want to drive during your vacation, because your budget is tighter or because you would like to take advantage of the transportation alternatives on the island, in the section below we will explain how you can move around Ibiza without renting a car or bringing your own from home.

The options are varied: bus, cabs, boats...

1. GETTING AROUND IBIZA BY BUS

The San Antonio cab stand is right next to the port and very close to the bus station.

The bus has an advantage as an alternative to move around Ibiza for a simple reason: the price. It is the most economical method of transport that you can find on the island and with the different lines you can reach any of our 5 municipalities.

In summer there are more than thirty lines active, including several specifics for night trips (known as "Disco Bus"). Depending on the distance and timetable, a single ticket can cost between 1,50€ and 4,00€.

Of course, if you are traveling with family or friends, and you plan to move around Ibiza by bus, keep in mind that you can also get bonuses to make each trip even cheaper

2. GETTING AROUND IBIZA BY BOAT

Why not take a sailboat tour of Ibiza? Take a look at our Ketch CT56 "Octopus C", an ideal choice for a vacation at sea.

No, we are not talking about "getting to Ibiza by boat". We are talking about getting around Ibiza by boat. And no, we don't just mean that, for example, you have the possibility to discover the best beaches sailing along the west coast with a rental boat (after all, that's what we do, right?).

We refer to a less known means of transport, but that can be very useful during your vacation. In some towns like San Antonio or Ibiza you can find small boats that make short trips between the same town or even sea excursions.

To mention an example, from the port of San Antonio you can take several ferries that will take you to the other part of the bay shared with San Jose. There are also daily departures that make routes along the beaches. A practical and cheap way to move around Ibiza without having to look for parking to go to the beach.

This is usually the preferred option for families staying in apartments near the beach or the small jetties that some of them have, but it is a very good alternative for anyone who wants to move around Ibiza without a car.

3. GETTING AROUND IBIZA BY CAB

The most expensive option, no doubt. However, it may be the most convenient in some situations: on the way back from an evening in a restaurant, to go to or return from the airport, to get directly to a busy beach without parking...

Compared to the bus or the boats, moving around Ibiza by cab has an important advantage: you do not depend on timetables and the transfer is much faster. The urban centers have cab ranks and also radio cab service for pick-ups, something very practical.

Regarding fares, although they depend on several factors (schedules, supplements, ...), they are usually between 15€ and 20€ for a trip from the airport to the capital, between 20€ and 25€ for a trip between Ibiza and San Antonio and between 30€ and 35€ if the trip is longer (San Antonio > Santa Eulalia, for example).

For more information or to order a cab in Ibiza directly, you can call 971 33 33 33 33 (easy, right?).
